Meet Julia

Hi, my name is Julia.  I launched TheQuietGrove.com a family travel and lifestyle site in June of 2005 to be a resource for Families. The aim was to provide Moms (& Dads) with quality tips, inspiration and more to help them embrace life to its fullest and to take joy in their journey.

A little about me. I have been told that I was a busy child. I was walking and talking by the time I was 6 months old. By the time I was 6 years old I had helped wash my dad’s brand new car with deodorant, stuck green jello jigglers to our kitchen’s vaulted ceiling, and tried to rescue our pet hamster by giving it mouth to mouth…with a bicycle pump.

I never fully gained an appreciation of my mother and all I put her through until I was grown and had three crazy awesome kids of my own. Being a mom isn’t easy. Especially in today’s world. However, it can be wonderful too.

Every day is a new adventure with my husband and kids as well as an opportunity. I believe in embracing life to its fullest and celebrating all life’s precious moments. If you aren’t having fun you aren’t doing right.

I believe that education opens the world to you and sets you free We homeschool our 3 kids. However, the path of education is different for everyone. Though I homeschool my children and believe that anyone can successfully homeschool their children, I acknowledge that this path isn’t right for everyone.

My children are all still young (aged 5,7, 9). you can imagine, they can be quite the handful (especially the youngest) but that hasn’t stopped us from embracing  life.  In addition to traveling and experiencing the wonders of the modern world, some of some of our favorite things to do together are read books (we are big on books in our family), do creative crafts, enjoy fun activities, and experiment with science projects. My children are also big on going to parks, museums, and trying new things.

I take my roles as a homemaker very seriously. Even though we don’t currently have a house of our own, I still try to create a home wherever we are at. One aspect of this important role is cooking. Thankfully I love to cook and bake for my friends and family. I feel as if it is an expression of my love for them. Cooking is both a science and an art that I am always working on developing more. Whether it is experimenting with recipes that are old family favorites, trying out recipes I find online (which is how we find many new family favorites) or creating my own.
