Are you hosting a Christmas Party this year?

Anyone who knows me knows that I adore throwing parties. This is especially true with holiday parties. I usually love to design my own decorating and make delicious food and snacks. Then I like to plan games and gifts. These parties usually take a lot of planning and work to put together. This year,  however, I just didn’t have the time do so.

For those who don’t know an opportunity opened up for my little family to stay with some friends in Greece for a few months, and we left for our adventure Dec 4th. My Parents and siblings decided to move up our Christmas Party to Dec 2nd so we could all get together and celebrate Christmas before my husband, kids and I headed out. I still wanted to have a fun memorable Christmas Party, but I knew that this year I needed to simplify.

Instead of making an elaborate Dinner or arrangement of Party foods. We decided to go potluck this year with the theme Breakfast for Dinner (sort of Christmas Morning like.) Everyone loved this idea. As for the Decorations and activities, I turned to the Oriental Trading Company for all my last minute Christmas Party needs. They even have a Christmas Tab on their site with sections for Stocking Stuffers & Toys, Christmas Decorations, Party Supplies and more.

Decorations:

Oriental Trading Company has a TON of awesome decorations, but I opted for some simple yet classy Red Tissue Snowflakes to hang from the ceiling. (bonus points that these decorations were as easy to take down and store as they were to set up so they can be used over and over again.  One package came with 12 large red snowflakes which was plenty for our needs.

Activities:

I didn’t worry about entertaining the adults. After all, my siblings and I love to talk with each other. However, I did get some fun Santa and Elf Costume Photo Stick Props for us to take some pictures with.

No, it was the kids I worried most about. I knew that if we didn’t keep them all entertained that they would just end up getting into mischief at my sister’s place and probably end up making a big mess. So I decided on 4 Activities to entertain them.

First I got the Peanuts® Christmas Bean Bag Toss Game. It was super easy to set up and was fun for both the kids and even a few of the adults.  Because this game stores compactly I foresee pulling it out for future fun with my kids.

Second, I got a simple Nativity Journey Board Game. This game was easy enough that all but the youngest were able to play it without any help.

Thirdly, I found these fun little Nativity Lacing Cards which were a fun activity for the kids to do with their hands which didn’t make a mess.

Lastly, I got the Gingerbread House Sticker Scene. My kids had been sad that this would be the first year we wouldn’t be making homemade gingerbread houses. They were really excited to at least decorate these paper gingerbread houses instead.

Party Favors:

To end the night each child (and young adult) was given a fun Stocking as a party favor. Each stocking was filled to the brim with little activities as well as treats. We got the stockings came in packages of a Dozen as did many of the stocking fillers. This was great because I not only had enough for everyone at the party, but I also had enough of certain items to take with us overseas for the kids to have for Christmas Day.

Here is the list of what I included in each stocking. (I wanted a mixture of toys, games, and treats) Snowflake Punch balls,  Christmas Bulb Gummy CandyHoliday Slide Puzzles, and Mini Neon Water Ball Yoyos.

Thes best part of ordering from Oriental Trading Company to simplify my party set up was that they had fast shipping! Yeah,  no worries about not getting your order in time for your big day. Looking for a deal at Oriental Trading? Visit their coupon page for the latest in sales.
