Did you know A&W is celebrating 100 years?

I know it's crazy to believe that A&W® Root Beer has been around now for 100 years! It is a testament to how good they are that they have been around for soo long. I like soo many others have soo many yummy memories involving A&W Root Beer.
Though we didn't drink a lot of soda growing up, we always had some A&W Root Beer on hand to make frozen Root Beer floats (which was our favorite Summer family treat.).
My parents had a favorite set of glass mugs they kept in the freezer just for this treat. I remember pulling the frozen mugs out of the freezer and watching as they fogged and iced up when we set them on the counter. Then Dad would put the ice cream in each mug and mom would pour in the A&W Root Beer.
We always waited a few seconds before eating our frozen Root Beet floats in order to give the A&W Root Beer time to freeze along the edges of the mugs so when we did dig in we got slushie rootbeer and delicious crystalized ice cream in every bite.
I have soo many fond memories of enjoying those frozen A&W Root Beer floats with my parents and 6 siblings over the years. Now that I am married and have kids of my own I am so excited to be passing on this important summer family tradition. Only since my kids are still so young I have done so with a twist.
While my husband and I enjoy our frozen A&W Root Beer floats, our kids enjoy making and eating frozen Root Beer float popsicles! They are easy to make and are the perfect size for them to enjoy. Which is why A&W Root Beer and Vanilla Ice Cream are a common addition to my Walmart Shopping list.
I prefer to get my A&W Root Beer at our local Walmart. The prices are always great and I love that shopping there I can get in (find what I want) and get out quickly. For parties, I usually will pick up a 2-liter bottle or two but for our family treats, I prefer to get a 12 pack box of their 12oz cans.
