Are you looking to make some fun custom Travel shirts for your family this year?

Summer is the time for family travel. Whether day trips or a family vacation, the phrase every parent comes to dread from their children is the infamous, Are we there yet?”   There are a lot of answers to this common and often annoying phrase but the two most common responses I hear from my husband are “Will you STOP asking?” and “We will get there when we get there!” In all our recent travels I have heard these phrases sooo many times (especially by my husband and middle child) I thought it would be fun to make some travel shirts for our family to wear with these phrases on them.

As you know, one of the things I love about my Cricut Explore Air 2 is making custom shirts for my family. Not only are they really easy to make using Cricut’s Iron-On material they are also quick to make.  Even so, I thought to start with just a shirt for my husband and middle child (who is the worst with the “Are we there yet?” comments. However, I love how they turned out soo much I think I need to make some for the rest of our family.  (I am debating if I want to make them all the same or switch up the travel sayings…What do you think?)

For those who want to make their own “Are we there yet?” “Will you stop asking?” travel shirts I have included the tutorial below. Enjoy!

Instructions

  • Size design for the shirt you are putting them on. (the sizing in the canvas is for a child (boy) sized 5 shirt and a men’s sized Small shirt.

  • Make sure to click the Mirror Image button for all the Mats before cutting them out.

  • Set your Cricut Machine to Iron-On and load your Iron-on shiny side down on your standard grip mat.

  • Weed using weeding tool and tweezers found in the Weeding Tool Set. **Most of the designs weed very easily. However, the fireworks will take patience due to how intricate they are.

  • Place shirt on EasyPress Mat ** The EasyPress Mat is Cricut’s newest tool to use with their Easypress. It shields your work surface from damaging heat (so you can use your table without damaging it) It helps eliminate moisture and directs the heat (from the Easypress) to your Iron-On Design creating a better meld to your fabric!
  • Preheat the area of your shirt that you will be putting your design (5-10 seconds) then place the first color of Iron-On where you want it on your shirt.

EasyPress Ironing Instructions

  • For the Standard Light Iron-on on 100% Cotton shirt set your EasyPress to 315 F  and preheat for 5 Seconds. Press Iron-On design for 30 seconds on the front of the garment and then 15 seconds on the back of the garment (leaving Liner on) using medium pressure. Warm Peel
