Easy DIY Infusible Ink Harry Potter Socks!

Sharing is caring!

Did you know that you can make custom Harry Potter socks with Infusible Ink?

A little while ago my younger sister Jennifer called me up and said, “Did you know that the socks at the Dollar Store are a High % Polyester?!? That means you can use Infusible Inks with them….right? I am totally going to try and make some Harry Potter socks!”  A couple of hours later she texted an image of her new Hogwarts Crest socks that she made with Infusible Inks and they looked amazing. We had both made Hogwarts Crest socks before Using Iron-on (get the tutorial here) but these Harry Potter socks made with Infusible Ink are even better. For you, won’t have to worry about stretching out the design at all while wearing them.

For those who are new to Cricut Infusible Ink, let’s talk about what it is and how it works. Infusible ink is a special ink that when heated to a specific temperature sinks into your base material leaving a permanent design that won’t peel or crack and will stay vibrant wash after wash. That’s right, unlike Iron-on and Vinyl which uses an adhesive to stick to a surface of your project, Infusible Ink actually infuses into your project becoming permanent.

While you will get the best-guaranteed results when using Infusible Inks you will want to use Cricut’s blanks (which you can purchase here). However, you can use infusible inks with other fabric bases as long as they are light in color and have a high polyester %. For the synthetic fibers will hold the ink colors better for vibrant results. As for non-fabric bases like coaster you will need to use Cricut blanks for they have a special coating which is necessary for the inks to work. Additionally, to use  Infusible Inks you need a Heat press that can reach 400°. I recommend using an Easypress 2.

My sister Jennifer was kind enough to send me some pictures so I could share with you this tutorial for how to make these socks as well.  You can make these fun Harry Potter socks using the tutorial below, or pin this post to your Harry Potter or Cricut DIY board on Pinterest to make later on.

Notes

or these socks, my sister used a simplified Hogwarts Crest to make it easier for the Infusible Ink Markers to draw the design. However, if you want to use my ore detailed Hogwarts Crest you can do so as well.

I do love how these socks turned out and can’t wait to make some for myself. I also want to make me some fun “if you can read this…” socks as well. The best part is, that because the design is drawn with the Infusible Ink markers there is no weeding!!!
