Are you looking for free online education resources?
In many places schools are temporarily closed and many families are experiencing self or government appointed quarentines. Because of this many parents who never planned to homeschool are now looking for help via online educational resources to teach their kids at home.
While there have always been lots of homeschool resources available online for free (some that my husband and I have enjoyed using in our homeschool for years.), now there are even more available thanks to educational sites offering services for free to families in need due to school closures.
Educational Resources
Sheppard Software
This website has always been free. It has resources for all ages from preschool through high school. I especially LOVE their Geography resources which I have used myself (back in college) and with my children.
Khan Academy
Kahn Academy is a non-profit Online school offering classes from Early learning through Highschool. We like to use them specifically for their Math program for our kid's Homeschool.
Prodigy
Learn Math while playing a fun video game with Prodigy. While their Premium Membership (which unlocks more features and gameplay) does cost, your kids can set up a profile and play for free.
Typing.com
Help your kids learn typing skills with fun games. We use this site for our kids and love it.
Smithsonian For Kids
The Smithsonian offers lots of fun resources for Kids including virtual tours and science games.
Highlights Kids
Highlights Kids offers a variety of resources from educational information, Games, Activities, Jokes and more.
National Geographic Kids
National Geographic offers lots of fun resources from educational videos to Quizzes.
Scholastic
Get 20 Days worth of free reading material online through Scholastic's Learn at Home program.
NASA Kids' Club
Nasa Kids Club offers great science resources and activities for kids.
Wonderopolis
Wonderopolis is all about answering questions. It's a great resource for random facts and interesting information for kids.
What I love about these free educational websites is that you can pick and choose what you want to use. For example we utilize Kahn Academy for Math, but love using Shephard softwhere for Geography (at least for memorizing places).
So whether you are a veteran homeschool mom just looking for more resources to use for your kids, or a mom finding herself in the temporary need to homeschool due to school closures I hope you find these education website recommendations helpful.
