7 Must Have IOS Apps for Small Kids!
Like many parent's out there I limit the use of technology for my children.
I believe that phones, computers, and tablets are extremely addicting for adults, teens and especially children. However, I also see how when used appropriately they can be a great tool.
This is why my husband and I let our children (under supervision and for short amounts of time each day) use our ipads (for educational uses & sometimes entertainment.). We have even talked about the possibility getting our children Kindles sometime in the future. We will see.
Below are some of my favorite IOS Apps for small kids. Some are FREE and some cost but are well worth the price.
Educational Apps:
1- Little Writer (FREE)
Little Writer is a tracing app for kids that is easy to use and better yet it's fun. This fun app has really helped my 3 and 5 year old learn how to properly form letters, numbers, and shapes by having them use their finger to do guided tracing.
2-Endless Alphabet ($6.99)
Endless Alphabet is well worth it's costs. It is not surprising that it has a 5 star rating with over 10,000 reviews! This app not only will help your children increase their vocabulary, but it will also help your children learn their letter names and sounds. M y kids love dragging each wiggly letter into its proper place in the word all the while the letter is making its associated sound.
3-Alien Buddies ($2.99)
Alien Buddies has 4 different fun in app games (matching, puzzle, dot to dot, and stickers) to help your children learn their colors, letters, numbers, and shapes. Each game has various levels which make this a great app for kids of different ages and development.
4-WWF Together (FREE)
WWF (World Wildlife Fund) Together is a fun app allows you to experience some amazing endangered species around the world. With stories, pictures, videos and activities about elephants, rhinos, pandas, monarch butterflies, whales and more!
Stories and Show Apps:
5-SB World -Shine Brite Kids (FREE)
Shine Brite World is one of my kids favorite apps (and not just because my husband did the illustrations) . It teaches great principles by the adorable Shine Brite Kids (like diligence, Positive thinking, Being Kind, and Accepting others) through interactive stories. The app also includes a coloring book section, games, puzzles and more.
6-Bible Stories for Kids (FREE)
Bible Stories for Kids is another favorite in our home (especially on Sundays) This app helps your children learn important stories of the bible with interactive stories, fun facts, and activities.
7-PBS Kids (FREE)
PBS Kids allows your kids to watch their favorite PBS shows anytime and anywhere wifi is available. New videos are added every week! I LOVE that you don't need a subscription to cable or Netflix to let your kids watch kid friendly programming anytime.

We limit the screen time here too! In fact time got away from me and I told the kids they were done with video games for the day and they are now building an epic train track together. They are arguing over it but I suppose they are learning conflict management at the same time. I don't think we have the PBS app on our iPad, I will have to double check.
