For our starter, My husband decided to try out a cup of their Corn Chowder. I think he chose it because he is obsessed with clam chowder and wondered if it would be similar, From the sounds he made as he was eating it, he really enjoyed it. He said it was creamy savory and surprisingly delicious. He said it was like one of those old classic soups that you have heard before but don't see that often.
I too chose a cup of soup but I went with their French Onion soup which is an old favorite of mine. If I had to describe the french onion soup served at Mimi's Cafe in one word it would have to be decadent. Having made French Onion Soup myself before I know the work that goes into it. All those caramelized onions in a savory broth and bread topped with melted cheese. ummm. It was soooo good!
For the Main Course, my husband went old school with their Slow Roasted Turkey Breast served with gravy, cornbread stuffing, whipped mashed potatoes, broccoli and orange-apple cranberry relish. When his dish came out it looked soo good I had to try a bite. The Turkey was super moist and all the flavors went together in this classic dish.
I had the hardest time decided on what I wanted for my main course. I mean, seriously they had sooo many delicious options available In the end I chose their Fire Grilled Shrimp Brochette. The shrimp skewers came with both broccoli and whipped mash potatoes. I LOVE LOVE LOVE seafood (especially shrimp) and these did not let me down. The Shrimp were flavorful and succulent. I found myself wanting to draw out the meal to make it last while at the same time wanting to shove it all in my mouth at once it was soo good.
By the time we were done with our main course neither my husband nor I had much room for dessert but we just couldn't resist. My husband went with their Chocolate Chip Bread Pudding. Which almost reminded me of a super super moist chocolate chip cake. drizzled with sauce and a dollop of cream.
I went for the Molten Lava Cake a new item on their menu. I love how the Chocolate Lava Cake came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a strawberry. If you love Chocolate and Ice Cream you will love this dessert. The flavors went together soo perfectly (especially when I mixed in the cut strawberry slices.).
You definitely get your money's worth and then some with the delicious Mother's Day 3-course meal. Just be away it is only available on Mother's Day (May 13th) from 11 AM till Closing! Find your nearest Location of Mimi's Cafe here.
