A Sneak Peek of the French Style 3-Course Meal Mimi's Cafe is Offering for Mother's Day

Have you heard that Mimi's Cafe is offering a French style 3-course Meal for Mother's day?

Mimi's Cafe is out to pamper mothers and in the best way. Not only are they offering a scrumptious 3-course meal on May 14th (2917), but they are also offering a free Entree if you return to Mimi's Cafe through May 28th (Which is Mother's Day in France) How cool is that? In addition to an amazing meal

Last night I was invited out with my family to try out their upcoming mother's day special at our local Mimi's Cafe in Murray, Utah. Of course, I said yes, for their food is Amazing! last year my husband and I got to try out their Honey Lavender Porkchops (Read about that here) and have been avid fans ever since.  This time we were daring and thought to bring our three crazy awesome kids with us. Yeah, we were quickly reminded of why we don't eat out at nice places with our kids often...Anyways...

I love that Mimi's Cafe has a fun interactive kids menu that they are each given with 2 crayons to help keep them entertained while waiting for their meal to arrive.  For Mother's Day, Mimi's will be giving children a card for them to color and present to their mom's after the meal. Which I think is such a cute idea.

For those who have never been to Mimi's Cafe before, it's a French-American style restaurant with a Parisian rustic chic sort of look. For seating arrangements, they offer everything from a romantic seating for two, to a large booth for a group of friends or family. I personally love the atmosphere there. It's quite cozy.

My kids were happy to see that were a lot of delicious kid friendly meals available that even picky kids would enjoy. 2 of my kids settled on their mini corndogs (one with french fries and one with broccoli) and one child went for their chicken strips and french fries. When presented with the list of available drinks all three of my kids went for the Chocolate milk (a rare treat for them). My husband and I ordered their berry lemonade to enjoy along with their delicious bread basket while waiting for our meal.

Since the MOther's Day 3-Course meal actually has multiple options my husband and I decided that we would order different from each other so we could try more of what they had to offer to let you know what we thought. This plan went out the window however for the first course. We had the option between a variety of soups and salads that all sounded good but the one that caught both our eyes was their French Onion Soup. It has been years since we had had a good French Onion Soup and where better to try one than a French-American Restaraunt? The soup was everything I could have hoped for. It was packed with rich smooth flavor.

If I thought it would be hard to decide what to choose from the 1st course, the second course (and main Entree) was even more difficult. All the options sounded delicious and my husband and I found ourselves asking for a few more minutes from our waitress to decided more than once. Here is the list of Entree's they will have available for that second course for their Mother's Day special:

  • Hand-carved Slow-Roasted Turkey with mashed potatoes, gravy, cornbread dressing, fresh vegetables and orange-apple cranberry relish
  • Quiche Lorraine with Hickory-smoked bacon, aged parmesan, Swiss cheese and green onions
  • Shrimp Brochette Skewers that are fire grilled with a classic salt and pepper rub
  • Chicken Chop Salad with a slow-roasted chicken breast, red & green bell peppers, mandarin oranges, basil, cilantro, chopped cabbage and romaine lettuce tossed in sesame dressing with fried wontons and sesame seeds
  • Mushroom Brie Burger with sautéed whole cap mushrooms, caramelized onions and melted Brie on grilled sourdough
  • Chicken Tillamook Cheddar Mac with pulled chicken in a rich Tillamook Creamery cheddar sauce with crumbled bacon, penne pasta and Parmesan crust

In the end, I am glad I went with the soup for my first course, because I ended up choosing their Shrimp Brochette Skewers which came with a salad and the most delicious Creamy Cheesy Al Gratin Potatoes I have ever had. I loved the spices on the juicy shrimp which went perfectly with the cheese potatoes.

My husbands chose the Chicken Tillamook Cheddar Mac which turned out looking and smelling soo good I had to beg for my husband to share with me in exchange for some of my shrimp and potatoes. The Cheddar Mac was packed with rich savory flavor I wanted to close my eyes to savor it.

Thankfully there were only 2 options for dessert so we were able to order one of each. I chose the Seasonal Muffin Sunday. Which is exactly what it sounds like. They took a large, fluffy chocolate chip muffin and cut it into fourths. Then in the middle, they placed a large scoop of vanilla Ice Cream topped with melted Chocolate, Caramel, and strawberries. It was delicious and decadent.

My husband chose the Chocolate Chip Croissant Bred Pudding with Caramel sauce. This was a traditional bread pudding but made with butterly flacky croissants. I had never had bread pudding before but am now deffinately a fan. THis dessert was fantastic! Though I couldn only handle a few bites because of how rich and decadent it was.

If you live near a Mimi's Cafe and are looking to eat out for Mother's Day I highly recommend going to Mimi's. You won't regret it!
