You can’t have a Harry Potter Christmas Tree without at least one Golden Snitch.

If one Golden Snitch ornament is good for your tree, how about 10? Thankfully these ornaments are sooo quick and easy to make using my Cricut Explore Air 2. The first thing to do was design the wings. I knew the basic shape I wanted however after uploading my svg cut file to design space I realized I had to still tweak the sizing a bit for the perfect wings. In the end, I LOVED how they turned out.
Materials Needed
- Cricut Explore Air 2
- Golden Snitch Wings SVG
- Strong Grip Mat
- Cricut Essentials Tool Kit
- A package of Golden Ornaments
- 1 12×12 Sheet of Gold Glitter Cardstock
- Glue Gun (and Glue Stick)
Instructions:
- Download the SVG cut file for the Snitch wings here.
- Upload file into Design Space
- Click on the bottom left corner of the wing design (unlocking the lock icon) and then change the sizing to 2.584 inches wide and 1.259 inches high.
- Change the line from cut to score and then attach the scoreline to the wing.
- Duplicate the design and flip the image. So you now have a left and right wing.
- Duplicate the set of wings for as many ornaments as you wish to make (I made 10 which was just perfect for our tree.)
- Click the make it button, set your dial on your Cricut to Custom and select Glitter Cardstock in the custom material in design space.
- Place your Glitter Cardstock on a Strong Grip Mat and load into your Cricut.
- Insert your Score tool into your Cricut and click the Cricut button to start cutting.
- Carefully peel the mat from the cardstock.
- Fold the wings on the scored line and then glue the little tab to the ornaments using a glue gun.

I found that I liked the light gold 2.5-inch light gold ball ornaments with a matte finish the best. I was able to get a 10 pack at Hobby Lobby for s steal on Black Friday (though their everyday prices are great as well.) They sure did add that perfect touch of sparkle to my Harry Potter Christmas Tree.
