These twisted paper ornaments are the perfect DIY ornaments to make with your kids.

Over the last few years, making Christmas decorations has become a bit of a tradition in our family. Each year, we pick a theme and then I make ornaments and decorations together with my children. I love making these decorations together to kick off our Christmas season.
This year with how crazy the world is, I decided to go with a classic vintage Christmas theme. Knowing how much time we would be spending together at home, I wanted more than ever to create a warm and inviting look for our Hygee Family Christmas.

Today, I am excited to team up with Joann's to show you how to make some fun easy vintage-looking twisted paper ornaments with tools and materials all available at their stores.
These ornaments are actually quite easy to make and they look simply gorgeous. They are the perfect DIY ornament for a classic vintage theme Christmas tree.

You can make them now using the tutorial below or pin this post to your DIY Christmas pinboard on Pinterest to make later on.
DIY Vintage Looking Twisted Paper Ornaments
Materials
- Assorted cardstock
- Assorted plastic ornaments
Tools
- Paper cutter
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun/glue gun sticks
- Spray bottle with water
Instructions
Cut your paper or cardstock into 1" strips.
Dampen one of the strips using your spray bottle.
Twist the dampened and soft strip of paper or cardstock.
--> REPETE for all strips of paper or cardstock <--
After all the strips are twisted, start hot gluing the paper to the top of the plastic ornament in a spiral pattern until the ornament is completely covered. (Make sure that you glue the twisted paper as tight as you can so you don't see the ornament between strips.)
Notes
*Some paper and cardstock work better than others to twist for this ornament so if the one you chose doesn't work well don't give up, just try another.
*Your paper or cardstock will rip if you twist it too hard so be careful.
I had so much fun making these twisted paper ornaments together with my kids. We had lots of fun switching up the papers we used (with different colors and designs) to create unique ornament designs to put on our tree.
