Easy Chocolate Pumpkin Cupcakes

These Easy to make Chocolate Pumpkin Cupcakes are the perfect Fall dessert!

 

I have to admit that the Fall or Autumn season is my favorite time of the year (followed closely by the winter) and I am not just saying that because my Birthday is in November. I love the cooler weather, the vibrant colors, and especially the yummy fall food. Today I want to share with you an easy Fall dessert recipe for Chocolate Pumpkin Cupcakes that is sure to be a hit with your family and friends.

 

 

Serve these as a delicious after-dinner dessert throughout the Fall season, or even as a surprise after school treat. After all, who doesn't love pumpkins and chocolate? Thanks to how easy these cupcakes are to make you can even make them together with your kids as a fun Fall baking activity!

Ingredients

  • 1 box of chocolate cake mix, any brand + box ingredients
  • 1 tub of white frosting, any brand
  • Orange gel food coloring
  • 24 pretzel sticks
  • 24 Wilton candy leaves
  • 24 cupcake liners
  • Shish kabob skewer

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven according to the cake mix directions. 
  2. Combine cake mix ingredients. 
  3. Line (2) 12 count muffin tins with cupcake liners. 
  4. Fill each muffin well ½ way with cupcake batter. 
  5. Bake according to package directions. 
  6. Remove from the oven and let the cupcakes cool completely prior to decorating. 
  7. Scoop the white frosting into a dish and add several drops of orange gel food coloring. Stir to combine. Depending on how 'orange' you want your frosting, you may want to continue adding drops to make the frosting more orange in color. 
  8. Generously frost each cupcake with orange frosting. 
  9. Use a shish kabob skewer to gently post a hole in the side of the cupcake (near the top) and then insert 1 pretzel stick so that it looks like the pumpkin's stem. 
  10. Finally give each cupcake a Wilton leaf.
