Easy DIY Kid's Knight Boxtume (made from Amazon Smile Boxes)

Halloween is just around the corner. Which means moms everywhere are working on their kid’s Halloween costumes. This can get stressful and expensive (especially if you have more than one kid like I do.) For those moms like me who are looking for easy, inexpensive costume, it can be as simple as using an, Amazon smile box and supplies you already have at home, or a Boxtume!
I have loved seeing fun Boxtumes over the past few years and I am excited to join in the fun this year.
What I love about Boxtumes (in addition to how easy they are to make) is that they are inexpensive. As Prime members we all have those Amazon smile boxes lying around, as well as basic crafting supplies like the Duct tape, Exacto blades and spray paint required for my Boxtume. Goodness, I love the great prices, and the fast, free shipping I get to take advantage of as a Prime member.
For my Boxtume, which I actually made with my husband, I decided to make a Knight outfit for our oldest son. Not only is this great for Halloween, but I know that he will also be able to use his Boxtume for dress-ups later on. He loves knights, dragons, fairy tales and any costumes that lets him have a sword.

DIY Easy Knight Boxtume
This is an easy DIY Kid's Halloween Knight Boxtume using just a few basic supplies from around the house as well as a few Amazon smile boxes.
Materials
- Amazon smile boxes
Instructions
Grab a box large enough for your child's upper body and hold it up to your child to measure what size to cut the head hole, armholes, and torso hole. Use box scraps cut out rectangle pieces to attach to the bottom of the breastplate armor.
Use an X-Acto knife to cut the holes out of the Amazon smile box for the main knight breastplate armor.
For the helmet, cut a small box down to git your child's head. (**You will want to measure the box first by having your child stand next to the box and marking with a pencil where you need to cut it down and refold to make a small box helmet. )
Once the helmet is cut down, use duct tape to assemble the smile box sides, then cut a visor slit on the front.
Next you’ll use your child's hand as a guide for how big to make the sword.
Cut out a Shield and Sword shape from a large Amazon box. You do this by drawing a basic shield shape on the large part of the box, then cutting it out using an X-Acto knife. (We drew the shield on the corner edge of our box to reduce how much we had to cut.)
Use grey spray paint to color all the costume pieces.
Use Duct tape to assemble breastplate armor.
Use duct tape to make handholds for the shield and sword hilt.
**Optional Cut out cross out of scraps from cut boxes, paint and glue to the front of shield for extra detail look.
**Optional take the circles cut out to make the armholes, then paint and tape to knees for armor knee pads.
