Today Disney announced their official plans for Disney World’s Reopening in July!

Update: Disney’s reopening plans have now been approved by the mayor and governor so it is set to open.

This morning Disney announced its official plans for a phased reopening to start on July 11 and we are soo excited!! They presented their plans to the Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force and it was approved by the task force this morning. However, their reopening plans still have to be officially approved by both the Orange County Mayor and Florida Governor before they can officially reopen.  Keep reading for all the things you need to know about this reopening to plan your next family, Disney World Vacation!

Like many Disney fans across the country, my heart broke a little when Disney had to announce the closure of their Parks and Cruises back in March. We know why they had to make this hard choice and we are grateful for their concern for our health and safety, but that didn’t change how we felt at the news.

Disney Springs is the shopping, dining and entertainment district of Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. (Disney)

During this time of closure Disney has done everything they could to continue to bring some of their Disney Magic into our homes. Disney early released Frozen 2 & Onward to their new Disney + streaming service, as well as released their recipes to some of their popular Disney treats for you to make at home for which we are all thankful.

as health conditions have been improving across the nation and states are starting to open, we have all be waiting with bated breath for the news that Disney would be reopening their doors. Today (for Disney World at least) that news came.

Will we have to make reservations in addition to buy tickets?

Much like Shanghai Disneyland, Disney has announced that guests will have to secure a reservation in advance of their visit via a new system. This will help them to limit the number of people they allow in the park at a time to allow social distancing. They will release more details on how to secure a reservation in the near future.

Will Disney be limiting how many guests they allow into the parks?

Yes. For safety concerns, Disney will be opening their parks at a limited capacity. However, they have stated that they will gradually increase how many people they allow in overtime as the county progresses through its reopening phases.

Will we be required to wear masks?

Yes. Face masks will be required for all guests 3 years of age and older for entry and enforced throughout the park as well as social distancing.

However, Disney has mentioned creating designated relaxation zones throughout their park off from the main areas of the parks where guests can take off their masks.

Will Disney be doing temperature checks for guests?

Yes. temperature checks will be required for access to the parks.

Will Disney be providing hand sanitizer at their parks?

Yes. Disney announced that stations as well as hand sanitizer will be readily available throughout their parks for the guests.

Will there be Character Meet and Greets?

Unfortunately No, For right now Disney has announced that the Character Meet & Greets as well as play areas will remain temporarily closed.

Will Disney World still be doing fireworks and parades?

Unfortunately No. For right now Disney has announced that their activities such as their parades and firework shows as well as other events that draw crowds will remain temporarily closed.

Will I be able to use cash at the parks

For now, Disney is encouraging cashless transactions for restaurants and retails throughout the parks.

Disney gift cards are available to purchase at select retail locations within the parks.

Where will I be able to find all the current safety rules while at the parks?

Disney will post the information in their Park App, on Signs throughout the parks and via cast members.

While the word is uncertain, we can’t live in fear. It’s important to get back out there (while still taking safety precautions) and enjoy life with our kids.  I am grateful for Disney creating such a magical place to create forever memories with my kids and can’t wait to take them after the parks are once again open. (though I am not sure yet when we will be going)

As a reminder, you don’t have to wait to start planning your next Disney World vacation. Even though the parks aren’t open yet you can Book your vacation for 2020 as well as 2021 right now though Get Away Today for just $200 down.
