Do you set School Goals with your kids each year?
Growing up we had a few back to school traditions that I looked forward to every year. One of those traditions what a Back to School Daddy interview where we would talk about the new school year about to start and I would share my hopes, fears, and school goals with my dad. We would write down those goals and then every month or so we would have a follow-up interview to see how I was doing.
I loved those interviews because I knew I could share anything and everything with my dad. I also worked harder in school knowing that I would have those follow up interviews to discuss how I was doing. Now that I have kid’s of my own this is a tradition I am happy to continue. I fell setting goals for the school year and then reporting on those goals helps a child to really take accountability for their own education.
I created this fun and colorful “This Year In School…” Printable Goals sheet to use with my kids and thought I would share it with you to use as well. This Printable has two sheets. One printable goal sheet for Parents & One for Teachers to use. Since I figured that this could be a good tradition for teachers to do with their students as well. After filling out the goal sheet I recommend making a copy of it so that your child has one to put up on their bedroom wall where they will see it every day, and you can keep one in a folder for those follow-up interviews.
