How to Emboss Paper Napkins with a Cricut Cuttlebug

Sharing is caring!

Did you know that the Cricut Cuttlebug can emboss paper napkins?

As any hostess will tell you it's the small details that make the most difference at a party. This why I decided to take a few minutes while preparing for my recent Red party (check it out here) to emboss my paper napkins. Now for some that might sound tedious, but actually it only took a few moments per napkin using my new Cricut Cuttlebug and the final result was stunning. This is a perfect way to upgrade plain inexpensive paper napkins (I get mine here from Oriental trading since they are quality yet cheap!) to fancy napkins perfect for a party or special event like a bridal shower, baby shower, tea party or luncheon.

My favorite thing about this tutorial (other than how amazing the end result of the embossed napkins looks) is how very simple it is to do it. So let's get to the tutorial:

Materials needed:

Directions:

  • Place your "B" Plate on top of your "A" Plate This makes your base for your embossing projects.

  • Open your embossing folder and place the napkin in the folder centering the napkin so that the embossing design covers the entire plain part of the napkin (with the patterned edge out of the folder.

*Note: the opening to the Cuttlebug is the same width as the embossing plates (A&B). So if you are trying to emboss a large napkin you will want to carefully fold the excess part of the napkin around the edge of the "B" plate so it doesn't get caught in the Cuttlebug. If you are embossing a medium or small napkin this won't be an issue.

  • Place the second "B" Plate on top of the napkin sandwiched in the embossing folder and make sure all the Plates are lines up.

  • Put the stack into the opening of the Cuttlebug and turn the handle to move the plates through the Cuttlebug.

  • After the plates are through the Cuttlebig, open the folder and pull out the napkin.

The end result of the embossed napkins is just stunning. This simple hack turned my plain inexpensive napkins into fancy expensive looking napkins and the whole process only took a moment. Yeah, I was able to emboss a whole stack of napkins for a recent red party I threw (read about the red party here) in less than 10 minutes.
