How to Support You Family's Health this Cold and Flu Season

It is winter now. Which means that cold and flu season is in full force.
As a mother of three, I am constantly combatting these nasty cold and flu germs to keep my family healthy. These germs are everywhere and are constantly brought into my home thanks to my young children. I know I am not alone. It is a fact of life. Winter time used to stress me out since I hate being sick almost as much as I hate watching my children suffer when they get sick. And when one would get sick soon all of us would be.
Tired of this nasty yearly cycle I decided that I had to do something. Especially now that we travel so much. (nothing is worse than dealing with being sick while away from home. So I started putting forth more effort into focusing on preventative measures. Because of this, I have noticed that my family is getting sick way less often. On those rare someone does get sick I make sure that I do everything in my power to get them healthy asap. Thankfully I have found that there are a lot of great products available at my local Walmart to help me keep my family healthy.
The first line of defense for my family's Health is having everyone regularly wash their hand. My boys especially are always touching things and getting dirty. My favorite soap right now is Dial Complete Antibacterial Foaming Hand Wash. I love this soap because not only is it gentle on your hands with a soft scent, it also works great utilizing antibacterial ingredients to kill 99.9% of germs. My kids love how it foams making handwashing fun and easy.
My next line of Defence for keeping my family healthy and happy (especially during the winter months) is to help us all have a healthy gut. It is amazing the link to your gut health and your overall health. So in addition to eating healthy food, regular exercise and drinking plenty of water I also utilize Align Dualbiotic Gummys and Metamucil premium blend.
My husband likes to Align Dualbiotic Gummys because he is able to get that gut support without having to swallow any pills. (he is not a fan of pills.) the bonus is the gummies are as delicious as they are easy to shew. Each naturally flavored gummy (which has less than 1g of sugar) contains both a prebiotic as well as insulin which together helps nourish that good bacteria your digestive system needs to work properly.
I have been enjoying trying the Metamucil premium blend which in addition to helping you get rid of that waste that weighs you down (making you feel sluggish all the time) also help you to naturally control your appetite due to the 100% natural psyllium fiber contained the Metamucil. This means I feel less hungry in between meals and am less like to resort to contacting snacking. In addition to helping me with my appetite, the Psyllium in the Metamucil also helps promote healthier digestive health which is something I have been struggling with recently. It has no artificial colors or sweeteners. It is actually sweetened with the plant-based Stevia and is made with natural flavors and colors.
Like I said despite my best efforts sometimes we still get sick, That's the nature of life with 3 young kids. When that happens it is all about getting them healthy quick. In addition to encouraging revitalizing sleep near a humidifier, I like to have cough drops (like Vicks Vapocool drops) on hand to soothe their throats by vaporizing worst of their sore throat pain while at the same time giving cooling relief with the powerful rush of Vicks Vapors.
I am so happy that thanks to my vigilant efforts my family has managed to stay pretty healthy overall and when someone has gotten sick it hasn't lasted more than a day or two.
Even better when one person has gotten sick, we have managed to keep the rest of the family healthy (which I didn't use to think was possible) We have been able to greatly enjoy our winter months both at home and while traveling which has really reduced my stress as a parent. I love to see my family enjoy the Winter as much as the other seasons of Spring, Summer, and Fall.
