I Thank God That My Brother Is Still Alive
Tonight while my family was sitting around the table eating dinner I got a phone call from my younger brother.
The first words he said to me in a clearly shaken voice were, "I'm alive. I should be dead but I am alive. Everything will work out somehow." Say What?!?!
Needless to say this sent my heart into overdrive. I quickly demanded to know what happened. I turned out that my brother (who is out in SC installing security systems in SC) was driving home from his last job of the night when he saw headlights heading straight for him. The driver driving the opposite direction had crossed the line and was going to hit him. My brother swearved so they would t collide. Unfortunately in doing so he lost control of his car, hit the embankment, and proceeded to roll his car half a dozen times.
When the car stopped rolling my brother found himself hanging upside down, but alive with no major outside sign of injury. He was trying to figure out what to do since he could open his car to get out when he heard his name being frantically screamed. His coworker (who was driving behind home and saw the whole thing) thought he was dead. Another driver came to help and was able to get my brother out of his car which was completely totaled. The only part of his car not crushed by the rolling (or destroyed from all his equipment flying around inside his car) was where he was sitting.
The EMTs who were called to the scene couldn't believe he had survived the crash let alone walked away from it with no serious injuries. They kept telling him that it was impossible. That my brother should be dead.
Miracles do still happen. Last night God saved my brothers life with a miracle. After our call I bowed my head in thanks to God that my brother is still alive. Life is sort and so precious. We never know when our time will be called up. I am just grateful that as far as my brother is concerned today is not that day. I just wish he wasn't so far away. I wish I could hold him in my arms and reassure myself that he is really safe and sound.
