How to Deal with Disney World Wait Times
Waiting can seem like the least fun thing about your Disney World vacation, but if you use these times right, they can actually be a nice time. Depending on the ages of your kids or travel buddies here are a few ideas for making the wait times more bearable:
- Younger kids- Use these slower times in line for snacks and to play games like "I Spy" or to talk about your child's favorite things from the trip.
- Older kids- Entertain older kids by playing a quick Disney game. The Play Disney Parks app is a cute way to add to your family's Disney experience while helping time pass.
- Teens- Snacks, games, and chatting about the trip are great for this age too. It's also nice to let teenagers have phone time to entertain themselves and keep up with friends while they can do their own thing for a bit.
- Whole Family - Use the slower times to eat snacks, and of course play games like my Guess Who Said it: Disney Edition, Star Wars Edition & Pixar Edition. Also use the time to talk about the trip so far and what everyone wants to do next.
Disney World Line Apps
The number one way we navigate and get more done at Disney is by using various line apps. Disney World has come out with their own version through the My Disney Experience app, which is great. But here are a few more that I found work a bit better for our vacation:
My Disney Experience- It's always a great idea to use the app made by the Walt Disney Company themselves. Not only does it do a great job staying up to date, but it's also nice to have all your vacation information in one place.
Touring Plans Lines App- This is a trusted app for checking wait times and planning your park visits. While a subscription isn't free, it's so worth the price (under $15 for a year's access) as an inexpensive planning tool for your trip.
Before the trip, use the park crowd calendar on the Touring Plans website to pick which park is best for each day of your vacation. It's helpful and takes stress off trying to decide which park to reserve ahead of time.
During your trip, use the lines app to see what Disney World ride wait times are shorter and therefore worth running across the parks for. The users are on top of reporting times when a ride is down, and what to expect. Because Touring Plans has been in the Disney Parks game for many years, they have collected years of data to help guide guests so they can enjoy the lowest wait times.
