Are you ready to take your kids to Disney On Ice?
I have to say, my kids are so excited to go and see Disney On Ice Presents: Follow Your Heart tomorrow night (March 8th) at the Vivint smart arena in Salt Lake City, Utah. (For more info about this Performance Click Here. To buy tickets Click Here.) They can't wait to watch some of their favorite Disney Characters perform. As fun as the show is, my favorite part is watching my kids to see their joy and excitement throughout the show.
As much as I enjoy taking my kids to Disney on Ice it isn't always easy to do so. After all, as any parent of young children can attest, taking little kids anywhere let alone a performance of any kind can be tricky. Kids get hungry, tired, and overstimulated too easy. However, when you know what you are doing you can still have lots of fun.
I am also what my sister likes to call a maximizer. I like to always get the most out of every experience. If I am going to invest in taking my kids to see Disney on Ice I want them (and me) to have the BEST experience possible.
Here are my top 5 tips for taking kids to Disney on Ice:
1- Watch Disney Movies Beforehand.
Each Disney on Ice Production focuses on specific Disney Characters. So what better activity in the days leading up to going to see this LIVE show, than rewatching the movies these beloved characters stared in. For instance, since the Disney On Ice performance, we are going to tomorrow includes Inside-Out characters last night we watched Inside Out with our kids. 2- Glow Sticks.
At the Disney On Ice performance, you can buy everything from delicious treats to fun accessories. A favorite accessory I see every time is a glow stick wand. Kids love them because they can wave them around in the dark stadium and feel like they are part of the show. If you don't want to buy the glow stick wands there at the performance you can always buy some dollar store glowsticks to give to your kids once you get there. (to be honest, that's what I do.)
3- Dress Up.
What's better than attending a Disney on Ice Show? Umm...Going to a Disney on Ice Show dressed as your favorite Disney character of course. Seriously, if your kids have Disney costumes, then let them come dressed up. They will LOVE it!
4- Provide Snacks.
Like I said there are lots of yummy treats available at Disney On Ice performances. Its like when you go to a movie. Since the performance is long treats really help keep kids happy. for nothing is worse than dealing with HANGRY kids having meltdowns. Which is why I recommend either bringing money to buy treats there or bring a few subtly in your bag to randomly share throughout the show.
5- Be Patient.
The biggest thing you have to remember when taking kids to Disney on Ice is that this is for them not you. Don't be frustrated if your kids get hungry or thirsty (come prepared. Likewise don't get frustrated if they need to take a gazillion potty breaks or get over stimulated and slightly cranky. Just stay calm and remind yourself kids are kids and to enjoy the experience while you can.
