6 Things You Didn't Know are Banned from Disney Parks
Don't make the mistake of packing any of these items for your next Disney Vacation!
Yey, you are planning a Disney Vacation! That is super exciting. Disney sure does know how to make vacations magical! If you haven't already booked your Disney Vacation (Disneyland, Disney World, or Disney Cruise) I highly recommend going through Get Away Today. They are my go-to travel agency for Disney Vacations. With that said, when planning a Disney vacation, one of the first things many think about (after booking the tickets and accommodations) is what to pack. To help you know what to pack I am working on a detailed packing list (for Kids, Youth, and Adults) That I will have available soon. However, Today I want to first discuss what NOT to pack. Did you know that Disney has a list of banned or prohibited items? Even if you somehow manage to smuggle these items into a Disney park they will be quickly confiscated.
While some of the items are obviously prohibited (like weapons, Illegal substances,& fireworks), other items you wouldn't think would be banned or prohibited (like hard coolers or Ice).
Here are the top 6 banned items from Disney Parks that you need to be aware of:
1. Large Bags or Coolers
While it is still perfectly acceptable to bring your own outside food and drink into Disney parks, a couple of years ago Disney changed their park rules banning all large bags & coolers. Small bags and personal-sized coolers are still allowed. Though loose ice is not so make sure to pre-freeze ice packs/ drinks if you need any for your visit. Here is the Specific rule:
"Suitcases, bags, coolers, or backpacks, with or without wheels, larger than 24" long x 15" wide x 18" high (61 cm x 38 cm x 46 cm) are not allowed in any theme park or water park. Loose or dry ice is not permitted in these containers. Re-usable ice packs are recommended."

Personally, unless you have small children and are bringing a stroller I would recommend just bringing a small backpack, fanny pack, or at most a small soft insulated cooler that is easy to carry through the park.
2. Glass Containers
It is also important to note that glass containers are banned/prohibited to bring into Disney parks. Probably because they are so breakable and can constitute a severe safety hazard. So if you don't want to use plastic food containers I would recommend considering packing your food into reusable silicone ones. Here is the Specific rule:
Glass containers (excluding small containers such as baby food jars), except in the Disney Resort hotels and Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser.

3. Recreational Devices
If you have a drone that you like to take with you traveling make sure to leave it at your hotel. Disney Parks are no-fly zones for all drones. It is also important to note that you arent allowed to bring into Disney parks other recreational devices like RC toys, skateboards, scooters, and skates. But did you know those fancy kid's shoes that have built-in wheels are also not allowed? Make sure you don't bring any of these items because they will be confiscated. Here is the specific rule:
Recreational devices such as drones, remote-control toys, skateboards, scooters, inline skates or shoes with built-in wheels. Bicycles are permitted only in designated Disney Resort areas.

4. Selfie Sticks and large tripods
That's right Selfie Sticks though nice for taking selfies and group photos are banned from Disney Parks so don't bring one. On the other hand, it is important to note that cell phone gimbals/stabilizers are allowed for filming as long as they do not extend. As far as mini tripods are concerned they need to be able to fit inside a standard backpack. Here is the Specific rule:
Selfie sticks, hand-held extension poles for cameras or mobile devices, flags and banners are not allowed in any theme park, water park or Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser.
Tripods or monopod stands that cannot fit inside a standard backpack or that extend over 6’ (182 cm) are not allowed in theme parks, water parks, Disney Springs, Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser or ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

The good news is there are many Disney employees everywhere throughout the Disney parks happy to help take your photos even with your own camera or cell phone so you don't really need a selfie stick.
5. Wagons & Large Strollers
Many people want to bring wagons to Disney parks to pull around their kids and gear (like coolers). However, it is important to note that they are totally not allowed. Neither are big bulky strollers. If you are planning on bringing a stroller for your littles it must be smaller than 31" wide by 52" long. If the stroller you bring is larger than that it will not be allowed into the park. If you are worried that your stroller doesn't fit the size requirement, you can always rent approved single and double strollers at Disney parks for a moderate fee. Here is the Specific rule:
Wagons are prohibited at any theme park, water park, or Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. Wagons are prohibited at indoor venues at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
Strollers that are greater than 31" (79 cm) in width and 52" (132 cm) in length. Stroller wagons are also prohibited.

6. Toy Weapons
Everyone knows that you can't bring weapons (ie knives, firearms, pepper spray, or mace) but did you know you also cant bring toys that look like weapons? That means no toys that look like guns or knives. Here is the Specific rule:
Objects or toys that appear to be firearms or weapons.

Though some people have expressed frustration with some of the banned or prohibited items listed for Disney Parks if you think about any of them they really all make sense as far as practicality and safety are concerned.
