79 DIY Cricut Projects using 12 Different Crafting Materials

Sharing is caring!

What Kind of Materials Can you use to make Cricut Projects with a Cricut Crafting Machine?

Not long ago I had someone tell me that they can’t justify buying a Cricut machine because they didn’t scrapbook. To this, I responded that I wasn’t much of a scrapbooker either, but love my Cricut machine.

Why? Because Cricut Machines can do sooo much more than just cut patterns out of paper.   They can cut over  100 different Materials  (they just have to be 2.0mm or less thick). So far I have done projects working with Cardstock, Iron-on (heat transfer vinyl for fabric), Magnet Sheets, Window Clings,  and various types of Vinyl. I have a few projects planned where I will be using Faux Leather, Vinyl Stencil sheets, fabric and Crafting foam. I can’t wait! I have made decorations for special events, home decor items to beautify my home, customized clothes, and made personalized gifts and wrapping. There are sooo many applications beyond just scrapbooking.

While you can purchase materials to use with your Cricut for your various projects I highly recommend checking out Cricut’s store. They have a large selection of high-quality materials you can purchase. You can check out all the materials available here.

In addition to some amazing make it now projects you can find in Cricut’s Design Space if you have the access subscription, there are some amazing crafty bloggers (of which I am honored to be numbered among) who have some amazing DIY projects you can use your Cricut Explore One, Explore Air, or Explore Air 2 to make.  Cricut makes being crafty EASY!  To showcase some of my favorite materials that you can use with your Cricut I have gathered some of my favorite Cricut DIY posts from my favorite crafty bloggers and have organized them by the main material used for each project.

Paper Crafting

Paper is available everywhere, but one thing I have learned is that not all paper is created equal. Certain Cardstock and papers cut better than others. Cricut has a great selection of quality Cardstock and Paper that cut very well on their Craft Machines.
