Review: Mountainside Spa

Sharing is caring!

(I participated in a Blog campaign on behalf of Mountainside Spa. I received a complimentary Massage and facial to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation. As always the views and opinions expressed are completely my own)

Everyone needs a little pampering from time to time. And what better place to go for said pampering than a quality spa like Mountainside Spa?

My life has been just a tad stress filled these last few months. It has not always been easy to balance my responsibilities of being a full time mother of 3 very active children 5 and under (the youngest of which is teething at the moment) , making sure our home stays in some semblance of order, and keeping up with the demands of a home business that I run with my husband (not to mention this blog.) Sometimes I wonder if I will ever get a decent nights sleep, or be able to fully relax.

This is why, when I was offered a massage and facial at Mountainside Spa a new spa opening in Cottonwood Heights (6556 So. Big Cottonwood Canyon Rd. Suite 700 Holiday, Utah 84092) in return for an honest review of my experience,  I jumped at the opportunity. Let's be honest, who wouldn't.  I have never been to a spa before so I had no idea what to expect.

When I arrived I was promptly greeted, checked in for my appointment, offered a seat and given refreshing glass of cool water.  I only waited a few minutes before I was greeted by Kim Miller my Massage Therapist and taken back to my assigned room for my full body massage & facial.

Now I have received professional massages before. But each time it was due to a major injury and I was in too much pain to fully appreciate the experience.

The room I was led to was lit by gently flickering electric candles and dimmed wall lights. There was soothing woodland music playing softly. I was given privacy so that I could take off my clothes and climb under the sheet and blanket on the heated massage table.

I have to say that the massage I was given was the most luxurious experience of my life. Before Kim began my actual massage she placed a hot moist towel on my back. As the heat seeped in I felt my joints and muscles relaxing. Seriously I felt like I had melted into a puddle of mush and the Massage Therapist hadn't even touched me yet.

Throughout  my massage Kim checked to make sure her pressure was just right. (as in not to hard or soft) as she rubbed a soothing oil into my skin.  Honestly I never had to have her change her pressure for it was always just right. I'm serious.  I asked her what oil she was using and she told me she was using Mountain Body's "Insomnia Oil" which was a oil made with Jojoba oil and a blend of Lavender, Chamomile, ylang ylang, and neroli essential oils.  All I know is that by the time she was finished I had decided I never wanted to move again. I don;t remember having every been so relaxed in my life. All the soreness that I sooo often carry in my neck and shoulders was completely gone. and the rest of me felt pretty dang good as well.

Before my massage had started I worried if I would be uncomfortable being virtually naked under  the sheet/blanket on the table with a stranger (I am a very private person). Not once during the massage was I made to feel uncomfortable.

After the Massage was finished Kim gave me a glass of water to drink (warning me that the massage had released a lot of toxins in my body from my sore muscles and if I wanted to avoid feeling like I had the flu I would need to drink a lot of water over the next few hours to flush those toxins out). Then Kim left and Amanda Brinkerhoff  Mountainside Spa's Master Aesthetician came into the room to give me one of their organic facials.

I had never had a professional facial before and so I didn't know why everyone raved about them. I mean isn't a facial just a matter of putting goop on your face and then washing it off?

Umm yeah a facial is soo much more. First off just like with the massage Amanda started by placing a hot moist towel on my face.  I felt all my pores open up and my skin soften. Then she began using these amazing organic skin care products from Eminence a organic skin care company in Hungary.  I was intrigued when she told me that not only were these products the best she had ever used, but that the company itself was pretty cool too. Apparently they get their energy from solar panels, all the employees bike to work, they only use pure organic ingredients which they grow themselves and when they sell their products they plant trees in developing countries.

Amanda didn't just apply the skin care products, she massaged them into my face, neck and clavicle area. She explained that many people forget to include their neck and clavicle when using skin care products which is a mistake.  If you do that you face will keep looking young but your neck and clavicle will get wrinkly and saggy aging you.

The products she used smelled so good I was tempted to try to taste it. In between each product Amanda used a hot moist towel, and by the end I felt completely rejuvenated. Seriously I had a hard time getting up and dressed. I just wanted to close my eyes and go to sleep 😉

Review: Mountainside Spa

I loved how great my face felt after the facial so much that I had Amanda  show me exactly what she had used.

I have decided that going to a quality spa like Mountainside Spa and getting a Massage and facial could easily become addicting. It is the ultimate pampering that has many benefits. I walked out of the spa feeling like a new person ready to jump back into my life as a WAHM.
