Did you hear that Dixie State University is changing its name to Utah Tech University?

Dixie State University is doing a complete rebrand becoming Utah Tech University. And I am here to give you all the details! This rebranding has been years in the making and really was needed to fully embrace the university's polytechnic (Or technology-based learning) focus that it has had for a while now.
With this change of name and branding, there have arisen many questions. Here are the answers to the top questions about Dixie State Universities change to Utah Tech University:
1: Why Change the Name to Utah Tech University?

As I explained above, Utah Tech University better embodies the kind of learning you will receive at this institution. Utah Tech University offers its students a hands-on career-preparing education.
They do this through utilizing technology and hands-on learning experiences which better prepares students to apply their learning in the real world. Additionally, at Utah Tech University, students get to work with local businesses to offer them actual experience in their field that they can add to their resumes upon graduating.
2: Now that Utah Tech University is an official Tech school does this mean they will no longer offer Arts and Humanities Studies and degrees?

No! Utah Tech University always has and will continue to offer a wide range of courses and degrees (200+ programs and experiences across all disciplines – humanities, arts, education, health sciences, business, and STEM). However, they will do so with a polytechnic approach.
3. When will this change officially take place?

Though Dixie State University has announced its change to Utah Tech University it won't officially take place until July 1st, 2022
4. Will Utah Tech University still be the Trailblazers for their sports team or is that changing too?

Yes. Utah Tech University's sports teams will still be known as the Trailblazers with the Bison as their school mascot. I think that the new sports logos for Utah Tech University look pretty Sweet.
5. Is there symbolism in the Font, Colors, and Design of the new School Logo?

Yes, there was a lot of intentional symbolism incorporated into the new Utah Tech University Logo. here is the basic breakdown:
- The Blue in the Utah Tech University Logo represents the deep blue skies over Southern Utah.
- The Red in the Utah Tech University Logo represents the iconic red rocks of Southern Utah.
- The Blue and Red together represent the Cooler temperature of Northern Utah contrasting with the Warmer Southern temperatures.
- The separation between the blue and red (top and bottom) of Utah Tech represents the horizon
- The inside or negative space of the U is in the shape of Utah.
- I'm not sure if it was intentional but I love how the connected UT forms the Pie symbol (a perfect ode to Math and Technology)
6. Is the Price of Tuition going to massively increase now that they are an official Tech School?

No. In fact, Utah Tech University actually has the lowest tuition of all 4-year state institutions in Utah. Making it an affordable and practical choice for higher education in Utah!
