Halloween can be such a fun time of the year. It's a time where imaginations run wild. However with the rise in food allergies and sensitivities in our children, many are left out unable to participate in the most iconic part of Halloween: Trick or Treating. I mean how crummy is it to dress up with your friends, and knock on door after door only to get treats you cant even eat because of a food allergy. While this may have been a more rare occurrence in our childhood it is becoming quick common today.

That is why the Teal Pumpkin Project was started. How does this work? Families who want to participate lace either a Teal painted pumpkin next to your front door Or for those who prefer put up a teal pumpkin printable on your front door which lets everyone (especially those kids with food allergies/sensitivities know that you are handing out non-food Halloween treats.

So what can you give that is not food for Halloween Trick or treaters (and school Halloween Parties that require all Halloween treats be non-food as well)? This year I opted to get a variety of items to hand out so that there would be something for everyone. My kids happened to spy them when the box arrived and begged for me to let them have one of each to play with now.
