Check out "The Walk" The Epic Story of Philippe Petit

Sharing is caring!

Yesterday I saw the trailer for the upcoming movie The Walk staring Joseph Gordon-Levitt.  And can I saw wow!

My first thought was, Why on Earth would anyone would want to risk their life to do a stunt like walking a high-wire between the twin towers (of the World Trade Center). That someone actually did it and lived to tell his tale makes the story fascinating to me.

Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a sucker for true stories.  So I called my hubby over and showed him the trailer, and we both agreed we want to see this when it comes out. (we are particularly excited that the movie rating is pg (Too many movies coming out are rated "R", and we don't watch rated "R" films")

My husband remembered hearing that there was a  Documentary made about  this. We looked it up, and sure there was a documentary made about  Philippe Petit  and his high-wire walk between the twin towers back in 1974 called Man on Wire.

When we saw that the documentary was on Netflix we had to immediately  put it on. It was late, so we only watched the first part, but man oh man it was awesome. I want to restart the documentary and watch it with my kids for home-school! Philippe Petit had such passion as he recalled the events leading up to his historic high wire walk and why he did it. It was as if he was reliving every moment as he spoke. Listening to the account of the others involved was fascinating as well.

I can't help but think of what we could accomplish as a world if we had the courage, drive, and passion to go after our dreams like Philippe Petit did.
