Welcome Fall into your home with this adorable Hello Autumn!

Autumn or the Fall is my favorite season of the year. (Winter being a close second mainly due to the holidays). It is now September which means time to get my Fall decor up. Now that I have a Cricut Maker I thought it would be fun to utilize its adaptive tools to take my Fall decorating to the next level.
So far with my Maker, I have utilized the Scoring Wheel for multiple projects. However other than the starter project I haven’t used the rotary blade and I hadn’t used the knife blade at all. I decided to put my new Cricut Maker and it’s adaptive tools to the test to make a colorful Fall Wreath using Heavy Chipboard, Yarn, Felt, Vinyl and Hot Glue. It was an ambitious project but one I enjoyed greatly.

Materials Needed:
- Cricut Maker
- Cricut Design Space for Chipboard Wreath Frame and Felt Flowers –> HERE<–
- Free Hello Autumn SVG –> HERE <–
- Fabric and Strong Grip Mats
- Fine Point Blade
- Knife Blade
- Rotary Blade
- True Control Knife
- Self Healing Mat
- Cricut Essentials Tool Kit
- Brayer
- Black Vinyl
- 2 MM Cricut Chipboard
- Red, Purple, Orange, Yellow, & Green (I used Felt from Cricut’s Felt Sky Sampler)
- Hot Glue Gun & Gluesticks

Instructions:
- Open Design Space Canvas for the wreath frame & Flowers. –> HERE <– **If you decided to use a picture frame for the wreath frame (to have a larger frame) then you will need to readjust the sizing of the flowers and Hello Autumn words.

- Download the free Hello Autumn SVG file –> HERE <– & Upload into Design Space.

- I sized the Hello Autumn design to 10.461 inches Wide x 4.89 inches High

- Using the Brayer, firmly attach the black vinyl to the Chipboard.

- Then Using the True Control Knife and Self Healing Mat cut off excess Vinyl

- Click Mirror Image for the Hello Autumn mat (since you are cutting it out top side down due to the vinyl)

- Select Heavy Chipboard from the materials setting.

- Place the Vinyl Covered Chipboard on a Strong Grip Mat. (vinyl side faced down) and tape down the sides with tape (I used blue masking tape) to make sure it is firmly attached and won’t move while cutting.

- Place the Knife Blade into the “B” Tool housing, Move the rollers to the side (so you don’t score the back of your chipboard), Load your mat & Start cutting. ***The part of your project will take the most time. When using the knife blade your maker will do multiple shallow cuts for the best results. I believe it did 20 for this project which took time.
- Once your maker is done cutting, carefully remove from the mat (I like to peel the mat from the material not the other way around) and using your weeding tool poke out any pieces that need to be popped out.

- Next place another Chipboard sheet on the strong grip mat (this one doesn’t need any vinyl) and tape it down. **Thankfully this cut will be much faster thanks to the simple frame design.
- Use a bit of hot glue to attach the end of the yarn to the back of the frame.

**Wrapping your frame in yarn takes time so I suggest you do it while your Cricut is cutting the felt flowers.

- Change the material setting to felt and switch the Knife Blade for the Rotary Blade in the Maker.

- Next carefully place your desired color of felt on a (pink) fabric grip mat), I again used the brayer to do this.

- Load into your maker and get cutting. ***Though the color for the circles (that I used as flower centers) is Yellow in DS I actually used black felt for them. I am sure either color would work great.
- Once each felt sheet is cut remove the flowers carefully. Felt is delicate and you don’t want it to tear.

There are 4 flower designs in this wreath each flower type will be in a different color (orange, Red, Purple & Yellow). Here are the instructions for the flower assembly.
- Group the flower pieces together and make sure you know which pieces go to which one. *** If you need help sorting the cut felt into individual flowers use the DS canvas for guidance. I have grouped the pieces to each flower together on the canvas, for visual reference.
- For the Yellow spiral flowers, start on the long end, and wrap the flower around itself, tacking in place with hot glue as you go.

- For the Purple Flowers Use Hot glue to attach the small tab to the opposite side of the flower (creating a shallow cup). **Make sure to glue tab to the back side of the flower.

- Repete for all three layers then glue the layers together in the center (largest on the bottom) gluing the center dot to the middle last.

- For the Orange flower Glue the tiny tabs on either side of each petal to the back side of the petal causing the petal to make a shallow cup.

- Repete for all eight layers then glue the layers together in the center shifting the direction of the petals for each layer. (largest on the bottom) gluing the center dot to the middle last.

- For the Red Flowers Glue, the tab of the large 3 petal layers like you did with the purple flowers.
- For the smaller 3 petal layers glue the tiny tabs on either side of each petal to the back side of the petal causing the petal to make a shallow cup.

- Then Glue all the layers together. The flat many petals layers go on the bottom, then the large 3 petal layers, followed by the small 3 petal layers on the top. Last of all glue the circle of felt in the very center of the top layer.

- Once the Frame is fully wrapped in yarn and felt flowers& Leaves are assembled, place them where you want them (and Hellow Autumn) on the yarn wrapped wreath base then use your Hot Glue Gun to attach one at a time. (Starting with the flowers, then the words, and last of all adding the leaves. **I tilted the Hellow Autumn Chipboard cut out so I could Glue it to the wreath in 3 points for more stability.

Like I said this exact pattern is for a smaller wreath (about the size of a sheet of paper) if you want to do this wreath larger I would recommend getting a picture frame for the frame of the wreath and then enlarging the size of the words and flowers. Since Cricut chipboard only comes in 11×11 inch sheets you might decide to cut the words out of Basswood from the craft store (since the sheets are longer. (the instructions for how to do so are the same.)

I love how fun this project was. This was my first time making felt flowers and it was super easy thanks to the Crick Maker Rotary blade. It was also my first time using the Cricut Knife Blade to cut a thicker harder material and it worked amazing (it just took time to do so.) All in all, I am so happy with the end result of my Fall Wreath. What do you think??

Beautiful project! As I'm new to Cricut and only have the Air 2 - could the felt flowers be made with the Air 2?

You can cut felt with the Air 2 but you would need to use a stabilizer backing on the felt so it wouldn't shred.
