Make a gorgeous patterned accent wall with a Cricut Joy & removable vinyl in less than an hour.
I have been slowly helping my sister-in-law convert her guest bedroom into a nursery. It has been such a fun process in preparation for their baby girl. My sister-in-law Emily decided she wanted to have a fun accent wall for behind the baby crib. Since we had decided on an animal safari theme, we painted the wall pistachio green. But still, something was missing. I thought of adding some texture and movement to the accent wall with gold vinyl and my sister-in-law Emily loved the idea.
After looking on Pinterest for a while for inspiration we decided that rather than doing a structured patterned design that would require measuring and lots of transfer tape and vinyl, that we would do a more simple random design that we could hand place on the wall. We decided to cut out gold circles and place them closer together higher up on the wall spacing the dots out more as we went lower.
For this project, I opted to use my Cricut Joy for 2 reasons. The first reason being it is tiny and much more portable than the larger Cricut machines. This made it easier to bring my machine with me to cut out the design at my sister-in-law’s home. The second reason was I wanted to take advantage of Cricut Joy’s ability to cut longer continuous designs. With Smart Vinyl I can cut designs up to 4 feet long. Not knowing how much vinyl I would need to use I brought 4 4ft rolls of gold removable vinyl with me.
In design space, I made several 2 in circles. (enough to fill a Cricut joy 48in roll of removable SMART Vinyl) and then cut 4 rolls. Putting them on the wall was super easy. We did it freehand and put them on like wall stickers. The whole process took less than an hour from start to finish and turned out super cute.

Open up this Design Space Canvas (for 2" circles) or Create your own design pattern -->HERE
Select the option of cutting without the Mat.
Select Removable Smart Vinyl as the Material and load it into the Cricut Joy.
After cutting, peel the cut vinyl circles off the vinyl backing like stickers and free hand apply them to the wall.
Put the circles closer together near the top of the wall spacing them out more the lower you get.

I love how this accent all turned out. I totally need to do this to some of our walls. Maybe in my kids room? I think I would do silver accents in my home. Not sure what design yet. What do you think?
