DIY Dollar Store Tinsel Trees
Looking for a fun and easy Dollar Store Christmas craft?

Today I am teaming up with some amazing crafty bloggers to bring you fun dollar store Christmas crafts you will just love! Whenever I walk through the dollar store I can't help but see perspective projects that I could make. It comes from growing up with a mother who as an Artist (as well as an educator).
For today's Dollar store craft, we were each challenged to be creative, use mostly items found at our local dollar store, and keep the cost under $20. I thought a lot about what I would make and in the end, I decided on making these fun tinsel trees. I got everything to make them (except for the hot glue.) at my local dollar store and yes they cost waaaay less than $20.
Materials Needed:
- Styrofoam Cones
- Green and Gold Tinsel Garland
- Hot Glue (and mini Hot Glue Gun)
Instructions:
Are you Ready??
- Heat your Hot Glue Gun
- Starting at the top of your cone apply Hot Glue and then carefully wrap the tinsel garland around the cone.
- After I wrap the cone all the way around I try to brush all the glued tinsel strands toward the top of the cone before applying more glue
- Wrap the next section as close to the last as possible to get that full coverage
- Trim off excess garland once you reach the bottom of the cone.
**The hot glue will slightly melt the styrofoam but that's ok just keep wrapping.
And...DONE!
I wasn't sure how much garland I would need to tightly cover one cone so I got a garland for each cone. Turns out that 1 garland was enough for 2 cones... so I guess I can either make more trees or have garland on hand for another Christmas Project...
What do you think? I really do love how they turned out. I like how the two Green and one gold tree look together. I might wrap some twinkle lights around the trees to light up at night.
