How to set up a Home Gym on a Budget!

Sharing is caring!

Learn how to set up your own home gym without spending a fortune.

It's the end of January, which means many are setting some big New Years' resolutions and goals for the coming year. Especially in regards to health. I know I did. I set some pretty big health goals. In order to achieve these goals, I need to regularly work out. As much as I would like to get a fancy gym pass like many of my friends to go work out at every day, I just don't have the bandwidth to do so. I learned a long time ago that If I want to work out regularly, I need to have my go-to workout equipment at home for easy access. Which is where a home gym comes in.

Creating a home gym can be very expensive. Especially if you set up a gym with elite name brand equipment in a large dedicated space like a spare room or garage. However, you can have a good and effective home gym on a budget as well.

  • The first key to creating a home gym on a budget is to not get everything all at once. Start with the essentials and then add to your gym set up little by little each paycheck until you have everything you want.
  • The second key is finding quality (non-name brand) equipment that can be waaay less expensive while still doing a great job. Yes, some of your big equieptment items (like elliptical machines, rowers, bikes, and treadmills.) can still be expensive. However, by getting quality but not necessarily elite name brand equipment you will spend hundreds rather than thousands.
  • The third key is to remember that this is your home gym. It can be as big or as little as you want. If you have a spare room or space in your basement or garage, that's great. If you don't have a large dedicated space for your home gym thats ok too. It can be small and fit in the corner of your living room or bedroom.

The list below is made up of a variety of my favorite quality workout equipment, and accessories, that are available on Amazon. Remember, to stay within your budget you don't have to get everything all at once!

Home Gym Essentials

Remember your home gym can be as big or small as you want it. The key is to make sure everything is easily accessible and that you know how to properly use it.
