Did you know that LEGO does a Free Kids Mini Build every Month?

My kids are all Lego crazy. They totally get it from their father. Which is why they were soo excited to learn that Lego holds a FREE event at their stores once a month where they can each make a fun mini build that they get to then take home with them. Apparently, Lego stores have been doing this since 2009, but we only found out a few years ago. And I am glad we did for our kid’s LOVE participating.

Last month I shared in my InstaStory on my IG account of our family in our local LEGO store doing their monthly mini build and I got a lot of people asking me how they too can participate with their kids. So I decided to write this blog post.

The first thing you need to know is that the Lego mini-build every month is FREE! That right no purchase necessary. Next thing is that the mini build is only for kids aged 6-14 to help foster their imagination. The mini build is different every month (It usually fits with the season) and has to be built in the Lego store by your children.

So how do you sign up for your kids to participate in the free monthly mini build?
1-You need to be a Lego VIP Member (*Don’t worry it is free and you get a lot more benefits than the monthly build. ) If you aren’t a VIP member yet, then you can sign up –> HERE <–
2-You need to sign up/register each of your children for the upcoming months Lego Build. The monthly build is usually over a 2 day period each month so when you register you get to pick the date and time you want to take your kids. Registration opens 10 AM EST on the 15th of each month. **Note: The slots go fast for the Free mini build, so I recommend setting an alarm so you can quickly sign in and register for the free event as soon as registration opens.
To register for the monthly mini build go –>HERE <–
3-When you arrive for your mini build you check in and then your registered children are each given a mini build lego set complete with instructions that they HAVE TO assemble in the store (they bring out tables for your kids to use). You can help your kids but they need to be the ones who actually assemble their builds. And then, afterward, your kids get to take their build home!!

This really is a fun activity for the whole family. Our youngest isn’t old enough to participate in the mini build yet so while my husband or I help with the build the other walks around the story with the youngest. Thankfully there is still lots to see and do to easily distract our youngest while our other two children finish their build. (I look forward to when all three of my kids are old enough to participate.)
