FREE Summer Reading Printables
I am a big advocate of encouraging children to read.

I believe that a love of reading is probably the most important thing one can instill in your children to promote a lifestyle of learning long after formal schooling is passed. Now, this isn't to say that I believe in forcing children to read. Honestly, nothing turns a child off reading quicker than forcing it upon them.

Yes, Reading should be fun. If it isn't you aren't doing it right. I wrote a post a while ago about How to Foster a Love of Reading in your Children which hopefully will give you some other great ideas. While reading is often common during the school year (since it is promoted so heavily in schools), many children stop reading come summer and then it is really hard to get them back into the habit once school starts up again. That means it's important to find fun To help promote reading during the Summer months.
Growing up I always loved summer reading programs (both through our local library as well as ones put together by my parents. In honor of those family reading programs which had such a great effect on me and my reading growing up, I have created a collection of fun colorful Summer Reading Program Printables that you can use for your family or individual Family member, as well as Summer, reading log (with and without point system).
