The Stray - Movie Review
(I was given complimentary tickets to a prescreening of The Stray to facilitate this review. You can read my full disclosure here.)
The Stray- Coming to a theater near you!

This last week I was invited with another local influencer to go to a prescreening of The Stray which opens in 600 theaters nationwide tomorrow. I decided to take my 7-year-old daughter with me as my +1 since she is crazy about animals. She wants a dog for real, but since we travel so much she has settled for her pink stuffed poodle that she kept as her beloved traveling companion since she got her for Christmas this last year.
We got to the theater early which was nice since we were able to mingle with others there to see the film (including some of the actors and people responsible for making this film. Thankfully another influencer and friend Janet brought her daughter as well and our girls hit it off became fast friends as only children can. Both our girls were excited when another girl their age joined our group. They were both quite impressed when this new member of their group announced she was in the movie. I am glad I got to sit with my friend Janet so our two girls could sit together during the movie. They were both so excited to see their new friend in it.
So what is my thought on The Stray? (Warning the rest of this post contains spoilers)
For those who don't know the story premise of The Stray, it is about this adorable border Collie that comes into this family's life just when they needed him. He was loving and protective and because of this, they called him Pluto the Wonder Dog. But let's talk about the family for a bit first.
Mitch and Michelle Davis moved to Hollywood so Mitch could go after his dream of becoming a screenwriter. However, somewhere along the way his dream became lost in the need to pay the bills as happens with many a parent. Soon Mitch found himself in a farce of his dream as a movie exec working day and night estranged from his weary wife and three children.
Like I said Pluto the Wonder Dog came into the lives of the Davis family at a moment they most needed it. He actually entered their lives when he saved young Christian Davis from schoolyard bullies. After that, he became a trusted loyal and loving companion to the whole family. After a hard wake-up call, Mitch knew things couldn't go on as they were. He left his Job as a movie exec to begin writing again and move with his family away from California all the way to Colorado.
It is in the mountains of Colorado, during an overnight backpacking trip where Mitch was trying to reconnect with his son and help him make some friends before school started that lightning struck...literally. Now, this part actually scared my daughter and broke her heart. I debated telling you what happens next, but I don't want to spoil everything. Just be warned the lightning scene and what happens afterward are a bit intense,
Even though the movie ended bittersweet still enjoyed it. Though I have to say it helped to be able to show my daughter and her devastated friend that the dog who played Pluto was really alive. I even got a picture a picture of them with the gorgeous border collie. You can learn more about The Stray and find out which theater near you is showing this movie on their website.
