Spoiler-Free Review: Disney Pixar's Turning Red
I was shown a pre-screening of Turning Red by Disney to facilitate writing this review.
Disney Pixar's Turning Red comes to Disney + on March 11th

In Disney and Pixar’s “Turning Red” Mei Lee is a 13-year-old slightly-nerdy overachiever living in Toronto, Canada. When not at school, Mei spends most of her time with her mother tending to their family temple.

Out of love and devotion to her overbearing and overprotective mother, Mei Lee is driven to be absolutely PERFECT in every aspect of her life. Even though she loves her mother, everything comes to a head when her mother humiliates her out of her overprotectiveness and Mei finds herself turned into a large furry red panda.

Turning red will have you ooohing, laughing, and holding your breath as you follow Mei, her family, and friends on an adventure of self-discovery. The visuals in this animated movie are quite stunning. You want to just reach into the screen and grab that fluffy panda to snuggle. Seriously, Pixar really outdid themselves.

Turning Red is a great coming of age movie that is packed with lots of powerful lessons like:
- It is possible to honor and love your parents and still be your own person.
- You don't need to be perfect to be lovable.
- It's not bad to feel things strongly, but it is important to learn how to controll our emotions.
- It's never a good thing to hide things from your parents.
- Friends are a big influence in our lives which is why we need to choose them carefully.
- Where we come from can have a big imact on who we become.
- There are always consequences to our choices.
Overall, Turning Red was a fun family movie that your kids are sure to enjoy. Especially if they have a thing for dramatics, Asain culture, and cute adorable fluffy animals. So set your Calendar to March 11th for a fun family movie night on Disney +
