Having extensively used both machines, I can affirm that both the xTool M1 and S1 are exceptional additions to your crafting arsenal, whether for hobbyists or small businesses. Before diving into the distinctions, let’s highlight their commonalities.

Another big difference is that while the M1 has a built in HD camera for positioning to help you line up your Laser to cut/engrave on your desired material the S1 does not. Rather the S1 has a very accurate advanced pin point positioning tool which I have found to be even more accurate than the camera was!

Reflecting on my experience with both machines, I initially acquired the M1 in December 2022, drawn to its versatility and fully enclosed design. Despite opting for the 5-watt version, I found it capable of producing impressive results across various materials. However, I eventually desired greater power and speed, leading me to explore the S1.

The S1, equipped with a 40-watt diode laser, exceeded my expectations with its enhanced cutting and engraving capabilities. Its larger work size and faster operation proved invaluable, particularly when fulfilling bulk orders for custom projects. Moreover, the added safety features instilled confidence, further elevating its appeal for home use.
