Looking for a fun Party Favor for your Chinese New Year Party?
Every party needs a good party favor. For this years Chinese New Year party I found this cool take out box design in Cricut Access in Design Space that I shrunk down (so I could get 3-4 per a page) and cut them out of white cardstock and used the same Chinese symbol for “pig” that I used on the napkins (get the DIY instructions for the napkins here) which I decorated the sides of the mini take out boxes with Red foil Iron-on. These take out boxes were the perfect size to fit a few small chocolate treats in and put out with fortune cookies as a party favor.
For those who wish to make these adorable little take out box party favors for another Chinese New Year Zodiac, I have included in this post the canvas links for all 12 of the Zodiacs.
Materials Needed:
- Cricut Maker (or other Cricut Cutting Machines that work with Design Space)
- Cricut Design Space Canvas for your desired Chinese New Year Take out box party favors (rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog, & pig.)

- Scoring Wheel
- Cricut Essentials Tool Kit
- Red Foil Iron-on
- 3 Sheets (12×12) White Cardstock **Makes 12 take out boxes
- 6×7 Easypress 2 & Mat

Instructions:
- Open Design Space Canvas for Chinese New Year Takeout Boxe Party Favors –> (rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog, & pig.)
- Select Cardstock for Intricate Cuts and load the Scoring Wheel into your Maker before loading the first sheet of cardstock on a standard Grip Mat into the Maker. (**The maker will always score first then cut)
- After scoring switch out the scoring wheel for the fine point blade to cut.
- Carefully remove the cut boxes carefully from the mat by peeling the mat from the cut cardstock
- Change the material to Foil Iron-on, click mirror image for the iron-on mat and cut.
- Using the weeding tool weed out excess Iron-on.
- Heat the Easypress 2 to 270 and set time for 30 seconds.
- Place the Cut Iron-on design on each piece of the Banner, then press with the Easypress 2 (using the easy press mat underneath) with firm pressure for 30 seconds.
- Then peel off the protective backing off the iron on (Cricut recommends letting it cool first for a “cold peel”)
- Fold boxes on score lines.
- Use adhesive to attach the bottom and sides of each Takeout box.
- Fill with small candies or chocolates. (**I fit 3 Hershey kisses in each box.)
I have to say I love how these turned out. The foil iron-on Chinese zodiac symbol just pops on the adorable small take out boxes. They were quite a hit at our party.
