Do you feel like your life consist’s of doing endless laundry?
Not long ago I was having a conversation with a friend who is also the mother of 10 children. Somehow, we got on the topic of laundry. I asked her how she managed to keep up with the laundry demands with so many children. My friend said that once upon a time years ago (when she only had 5 children) she really struggled with keeping up with all the laundry demands in her family. She was doing so much laundry every day it was taking over her life. Finally, she reached the point where she just couldn’t do it anymore (sound familiar) It was just too much.
[Tweet “When it comes to clothes LESS is MORE!”]
She told this to a friend who agreed with her and pointed out the reason was, that her children had too many clothes. My friend admitted to me that it was the truth. She was still in the phase where she felt that to be a good mother her children had to have a million articles of clothing. Between great finds on sales, second-hand clothes and clothes given to them as gifts her children had way too much.
The worst part was, that even though each child had some really nice clothes, somehow they always ended up wearing the same ratty clothing every day. Even worse, each time they went to look for an outfit they would tear through their closets and drawers strewing their clothes all over their room (which caused many of the clean clothes to accidently end up back in the dirty clothes bins. )
As I sat listening to my friend describe her long ago situation I found myself nodding at her words for she was describing EXACTLY what I was going through with my children right now.

This is such a super take on laundry. Our childhood was spent with mom trying to organise our wardrobes after we left it in a mess.
Given that tom is Mother's Day Day, I was looking for a card came across this one which just so relates to the tonnes of laundry we made her go through:

What an interesting take on minimizing laundry. We do a purge twice a year, but it still seems overwhelming when I look at the sheer enormity of our wardrobe... I really need to look into setting a specific number of outfits per person.
Thank you so much for this new way of seeing the laundry/inventory connection in my house!!
I would love for you to share this over at the Monday Mish Mash Link Party! http://countrymousecityspouse.com/monday-mish-mash-link-party-15/
