Cricut makes a variety of crafting machines. Their Cricut Joy is their portable mini crafting machine. Their Explore Air 2 & 3 are their full-sized standard machines and their Maker & Maker 3 are their full-sized top-of-line premium crafting machines.
Paper crafts
While all of the Cricut machines can work with a wide variety of materials, today I want to talk about paper materials. That includes paper, vellum, cardstock, posterboard, sticker paper, crepe paper, sticker cardstock, and kraft board.
Using these materials there is a wide variety of projects you can make. Some projects are quick and easy, and others are more detailed and challenging but still lots of fun. I have to say that some of my favorite projects are paper projects. If you are new to Cricut and don’t know where to start, then I totally suggest starting with paper projects. They tend to be easier and the materials less expensive so you can gain confidence and skill without worrying about the budget.
What can I make with paper in my Cricut?

Sometimes I like to say what can’t you make with paper in your Cricut. I have made and seen party and holiday decorations, food labels, stickers, cards, boxes, gift tags, bookmarks, home decor items, labels, stationary, tablescape settings, Flowers, Activity pages, and Clocks (Yes I have seen some epic 3d clocks made with paper materials and a Cricut), Cake Plates, and even 3D Chandeliers.
The best Cricut paper projects
I don’t know if there are better paper crafts to do than others, but I sure do have favorites. I love making gift boxes, and gift tags as well as holiday and birthday decorations using my Cricut and paper materials. I also love on occasion to get a little wild and try to make very intricate projects that challenge my skill and take forever to make.
Here are some of my Favorite Paper Crafts I have done with my Cricut crafting machines over the years:
- Christimas Houses (Part of my Christmas Tablescape)
- Tea Cup Cupcake Holders (This was the first project I did on a Maker. I made them for a family tea party They were such a hit.)
- Bunny Butt Banner (this is an Easy paper Craft but one of my favorite Banners I’ve made)
- 3D Eiffel Tower (This was the first 3d structure I designed and I love how it turned out)
- Paper Flower Wreath (My first project making paper flowers)
- 3D Halloween Chandelier (**As a side note this one involves Heavy Chipboard which could be considered a paper product but some might not. I had to use my knife blade and my Cricut Maker to make it but it turned out sooo cool so I had to add it.)
- Fall Paper Lanterns (I have made multiple paper lanterns but this is by far my favorite)
- Spring Wreath (Another favorite Wreath I have made)

- Valentine Animal Cupcake Toppers (I love using the Print & Cut feature on the Explore & Maker machines to make quick cute decorations like these cupcake toppers)
